Ghostbusters: Beginning with the 1984 film where comedies meet supernatural and science-fiction characteristics. It involves the story of four eccentric parapsychologists who chase spirits in New York. The franchise includes three sequels: the original Ghostbusters in 1984, Ghostbusters II in 1989

The all-female reboot Ghostbusters (2016), and the nostalgic continuation Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024). Thanks to famous characters, useful ghost hunting equipment, and well-placed comedy.

The series is still popular today. The entire Ghostbusters series is available for streaming in Amazon Prime Video and, depending on the region. Also on Netflix, while you can buy both Apple TV and Google Play versions.

Ranking the Ghostbusters Movies from Worst to Best: See Where Each Spooky Adventure Stands!

One can gain insight into this franchise by ranking all the Ghostbusters films according to their IMDb ratings. Integrating horror, comedy, melodrama, and drama, ‘’Ghostbusters’’ is still one of the most popular franchises in the world of cinema. Here we are going to give the list according to the IMDb scores and discuss each movie and what has gone well and what did not:

5. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024), IMDb Rating: 6.1

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
Img Credit- IMDb

Synopsis: As for the sequel to the film Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), the protagonist Gary with the Spengler family comes back to the initial fire station of New York City. Right when they think that they can finally settle, they stumble upon something that resurrects an ancient evil.

Why It’s Ranked Lower:

 • Afterlife performed well enough to be the foundation for the creation of the Frozen Empire. But, it seemed to have lost some feature on the Internet Movie Database to indicate this was ill received by the public.
 • Over Reliance on References: Despite the fact callbacks are designed to reward the old hat fans they themselves seemed overdone to some extent as they drowned out new ideas, plots.
 • Mixed Reception: Several efforts were made to try and integrate the old and new casts but the end results were not entirely successful.

4. Ghostbusters II (1989), IMDB Rating: 6.6

Ghostbusters II (1989)
Img Credit- IMDb

Synopsis: Considering the fact that the shooting of the team was formed of those four actors. The sequel shot in 1989 was not as successful as Ghostbusters. Five years later, the group disbanded and must come back together to fight a new evil supernatural.

Why it stands here:

 • Though still loved by the audience, Ghostbusters II did not have the same spin as the first film did. It just wasn’t as funny, and the stakes of the story seemed lower. Vigo the Carpathian was an intriguing antagonist, but he did not create the kind of sensation that Gozer did.
 • Some did find the film quite far-fetched. Especially given that its key antagonist is an evil slime that gains its energy from negative human emotions. While the subplot where the Statue of Liberty awakens from its slumber was overly exaggerated in their view.

3. Ghostbusters (2016), IMDb Rating: 6.8

Ghostbusters (2016)
Img Credit- IMDb

Synopsis: Amazingly, the 2016 reboot attracted quite a lot of controversy when it was released. An adaptation of this movie with different genders proved to be quite controversial. Precisely when the idea was first pitched due to the formation of an all-female cast.

Why it’s ranked lowest:

 • The movie was not like the excellent old Ghostbusters films of the past. It did have its quite humorous scenes, and mostly due to Kate McKinnon portraying Jillian Holtzmann. It never managed to deliver a feel that made the original iconic among the younger audience.
 • There were complaints that during the shooting, attention was paid only to CGI, and the ghosts were scary, rather cartoony. There was great chemistry between the cast, but the majority of the viewers complained that the movie was typical.

2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), IMDb Rating: 7.0

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Img Credit- IMDb

Synopsis: Released decades after Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters: Afterlife continued the storyline of events depicted in the first movies. It also brought the creators’ new characters of spirits’ hunters. Helmed by the younger Reitman, Jason, who successfully succeeds his father, the director of the first Ghostbusters, Ivan Reitman.

Why it ranks second:

 • It has aged the movie well while at the same time growing it into a new movie with young stars. The movie stars Sarah Cooper as Phoebe Spengler, whose father’s Egon Spengler, former role actor Harold Ramis.
 • For this reason, Afterlife is less invasive in regards to the property’s original horror mythology than the 2016 reboot. Abstract Practical effects were preferred over excessive ‘green screen’ work. Accounts of the original cast in brief appearances were appreciated. Seeing the Ecto-1 and the ghost trap seemed to be in reference to those fans of the 1984 movie.

1. Ghostbusters (1984), IMDB Rating: 7.8

Synopsis: To the audiences’ surprise, the first Ghostbusters film takes the number one spot. This 1984 film is truly a classic in every sense of the word, putting comedy, horror, and science fiction all together in one film.

Why it’s ranked best:

 • A supernatural comedy was best defined by Ghostbusters. There was great chemistry between Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis, all three of whom were writers for the show.
 • The villains of the film, Gozer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, became popular. The effects may be quite low quality now, and one could suspect that the movie is quite dated. But, the effects were some of the best of the time, and they give it a certain charm.
 • The film’s music selected by Ray Parker Jr. became an iconic hit. It has been 39 years since the release of the song, and it is now associated with the franchise.

This is one of those movies that has seen so many rip-offs, but none have come close to the original Ghostbusters movie. It’s iconic through and through and holds up just as well today as the year it was released 1984.

Conclusion

Experiencing the ups and downs of Ghostbusters movies, it can be said that the mark each movie left on fans was memorable. Regardless of the 1984 classic or present-day updates in Afterlife, this show has a built-in audience that enjoys its humorous interactions. And Along with being able to engage audiences for multiple generations in one way or another.

While everyone has their own opinions on each film, Ghostbusters’ success cannot be overstated. Regardless of whether you want to see the first set of characters or appreciate the interpolations in the latest movies, there is a special in all of them. Okay, if you hate some of it, but do you prefer the original Ghostbusters or the new Ghostbusters? What do you guys think? Let’s revisit and watch it again!

This reveals that Ofelia’s journey through a fantasy world represents horrors of fascist Spain. But, besides the political subtext, the film is rich in themes of faith & disobedience. Her blind belief in the presence of the faun, despite the gruesome consequences it entails, is a commentary on the evils of blind obedience to authority. And the faun symbolizes rebellion against authority as she kills the captain, who symbolizes fascism. Every layer of the dream is a phase in Cobb’s process of dealing with this guilt. On a broader level, it raises the question of technology morality. Black Swan is all about the darkness of perfectionism, competitiveness, & repression of women. When Nina turns into the Black Swan, the dramatic presentation of her progressive insanity is shown as her sexual awakening. This can be well understood as a commentary on social pressure exerted on women. And more so on women who work in industries that enforce conformity to restrictive gender roles, such as ballet. Nina’s psychological breakdown is a commentary on the ability of competitive ambition’s willingness to take a person to the limit.

4. The Tree of Life (2011):

The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life exposes a close to large family narrative as a way of exploring the concept of life & death. And the place of the individual in the universe. Its primary themes & puzzles concern the nature of life & the role of an individual in the grand scheme of things. It sets up two antithetical conceptions of faith: religious faith & scientific inquiry; it posits a question that cannot be answered. It doubts existence that reflects on one’s role within one’s existence & the unrelenting pursuit of the meaning of life.

5. Arrival (2016):

Arrival

Arrival essentially covers the questions of predestination & fatalism: linguist Louise Banks gets a superpower to see time as a circle. Two points can be stressed here: her knowledge of the future, & especially the personal one. Louise knows the pain in store for her but opts for love & contacts. Illustrating that society’s embodiment as a force of love & social interactions overpowers time. The film also reflects upon dialog & the role of language to call attention to the fact that people’s fusion is always changing for the better once they know more about each other.

6. Everything, Everywhere, All at Once (2022):

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once

The Everything Everywhere All at Once: the disorderly & eventless reality of the many-worlds interpretation of the modern world & endless options. As the protagonist navigates various realities, each one symbolizes the roads not taken in life, leading to deep existential questioning. Thus, it is safe to note that the heart to stall is love & family. When understanding, mutual affection acts as a barrier to the overwhelming number of variations chosen by the virtual world.

Nope

The Real-Life Underdog Story Behind The Long Game: How a Latino Golf Team Made History https://usawiremagazine.com/story-behind-the-long-game/ Thu, 19 Sep 2024 15:54:57 +0000 https://usawiremagazine.com/?p=275 Wondering if this underdog story actually happened? Yep, it's based on real life.

The post The Real-Life Underdog Story Behind The Long Game: How a Latino Golf Team Made History appeared first on USAWireMagazine.

]]>
Ever heard of a bunch of Mexican American teens from the ‘50s taking on golf’s snobbiest, all-white country clubs—and winning? Well, The Long Game tells that exact story. Directed by Julio Quintana, this feel-good sports drama stars Jay Hernandez as JB Peña, a war vet turned high school superintendent who wasn’t about to let racism keep his students off the golf course. Peña turned a scrappy group of caddies into Texas state champs in 1957, taking the Mustangs all the way!

The Mustangs were the first Latino high school golf team in the area to crush their competition, proving they had more than just swing—they had heart. Catch this inspiring flick, now streaming on Netflix, and get ready to cheer!

The True Story Behind The Long Game

True Story Behind The Long Game
True Story Behind The Long Game

Screenrant

Yes, The Long Game is based on a true story—and it’s a good one! Back in the 1950s, a group of Mexican American teens from Del Rio, Texas, formed the San Felipe High School golf team, the Mustangs. These guys—Mario Lomas, Felipe Romero, Lupe Falen, Joe Trevino, and Gene Vasquez—picked up their golfing skills while working as caddies at an all-white country club. Funny thing is, they weren’t allowed to actually play on the course because, you know, racism.

Superintendent JB Peña, who also wasn’t welcome at any country club, caught wind of the boys’ talent and decided to start a golf team at San Felipe High. He became their coach, and the rest is history!

The movie is based on the 2012 book Mustang Miracle by Humberto G. Garcia. So, if you’re into inspiring sports tales with a little side of justice, this one’s for you!

Cast and Characters in The Long Game

Cast and Characters in The Long Game
Cast and Characters in The Long Game

The Long Game brings together a stellar Latino cast, with Jay Hernandez leading the charge as JB Peña. You might recognize Hernandez as Thomas Magnum from the recently canceled Magnum P.I. reboot—RIP, private eye. Cheech Marin, Julian Works, Jaina Lee Ortiz, and more join the lineup, making this ensemble shine.

Dennis Quaid also steps in, playing Peña’s buddy Frank Mitchell, a fellow vet who helps coach the Mustangs to victory. Oh, and fun fact: Quaid’s not just acting—he’s producing too, under his new company, Bonniedale. With this cast, it’s safe to say the film’s got a serious game!

Title of The Long Game Explained: What Does it Mean?

Screenrant

The Long Game doesn’t have that cheesy title drop moment we all secretly love, but that doesn’t mean the title doesn’t pack some meaning. Sure, it’s a sports movie, so “game” is an easy fit, even though golf technically has “rounds.” But like all great sports flicks, it’s not just about winning on the course—it’s about the emotional stuff that gets us rooting for the players and coaches.

One of those heartfelt moments comes when JB (Jay Hernandez) throws a golf match against the country club’s manager, Don Glenn, his wife, and Judge Milton Cox (pro tip: never bet against a judge). Later, JB’s wife Lucy opens up about why losing stings. She admits she avoids the local moms at the park because she and JB had fertility struggles, and not having kids made her feel judged. Beating the wives at golf? Yeah, it was her chance to show them she was still a winner, just in a different game.

At the end of The Long Game, we get a sweet surprise—Lucy’s pregnant! Turns out she and JB were just playing the long game in life, too. Before the big championship, JB delivers another of his pep talks, reminding the team that golf (and life) is all about mental strength. No shortcuts for these guys!

While others might have an easier path, JB knows the long way is worth it. And sure enough, it’s Joe’s cool head and mental game, not just his swing, that seals the championship win. Lesson? Patience and grit always pay off in the end!

Where to Watch The Long Game: Streaming and Availability

The Long Game is now streaming exclusively on Netflix! Much like the underdog Mustangs, the movie had its own come-from-behind moment. After quietly hitting theaters in March, it stormed onto Netflix and scored a hole-in-one, landing at No. 6 on the Global Netflix Top 10 during the July 8-14 week with over 4 million views. Not too shabby! If you’re not on Netflix (really?), don’t worry—you can rent or buy it from all your go-to digital spots like Apple TV, YouTube, Google Play, or Fandango at Home (formerly Vudu). Wherever you watch, it’s a win!

Conclusion

The Long Game is all about resilience, triumph, and, of course, smashing some serious racial barriers in the snooty world of 1950s golf. Based on the true story of Mexican American teens who took on the elite sport and won, this flick is more than just a victory on the green—it’s a lesson in patience, community, and the power of a great mentor.

With standout performances from Jay Hernandez and an all-star Latino cast, the film shows that the real “long game” isn’t just in sports—it’s in life, where grit and determination lead to success. Now streaming on Netflix, this underdog tale is guaranteed to make you cheer both on and off the golf course!

Happy Gilmore 2: Adam Sandler’s Iconic Comedy Sequel – Cast, Plot, and Latest Updates https://usawiremagazine.com/happy-gilmore-2/ Sun, 15 Sep 2024 13:11:42 +0000 https://usawiremagazine.com/?p=249 Adam Sandler is back in the swing of things (literally) with Happy Gilmore 2! The sequel to the 1996 comedy classic just kicked off production, and Sandler, along with Netflix, dropped a fun teaser—showing off Happy's signature Boston Bruins jersey. Yep, he's still rocking the hockey look even though, you know, it's a golf movie.

The post Happy Gilmore 2: Adam Sandler’s Iconic Comedy Sequel – Cast, Plot, and Latest Updates appeared first on USAWireMagazine.

]]>
The original Happy Gilmore had Sandler’s character, a failed hockey player, finding out he’s surprisingly good at golf (much to everyone’s confusion). He hits the links to save his grandma’s house, and hilarity ensues. Earlier this year, Netflix gave the green light for more Happy Madness, and Sandler even hinted that NFL star Travis Kelce might pop up for a cameo. Plus, there will be pro golfers sprinkled throughout. Oh, and Sandler’s co-writing the script again with Tim Herlihy, so expect more of that slapstick goodness!

Who Will Be In the Cast of Happy Gilmore 2?

Cast of Happy Gilmore 2

The lineup for Happy Gilmore 2 brings back some familiar faces. Adam Sandler (HustleMurder Mystery) returns as Happy, with Christopher McDonald (Thelma & LouiseThe House Bunny) as the ever-slick Shooter McGavin. Julie Bowen (Modern FamilyHubie Halloween) is back as Virginia, and Benito Martínez Ocasio (Narcos: Mexico, Bullet Train) steps in to shake things up.

Adam Sandler isn’t walking back into the spotlight alone. Julie Bowen’s back too, and she’s got her place carved out in Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2. The original, a 1996 sports comedy, still lingers in the minds of fans. A hockey player who swings at golf balls like he’s breaking down doors, Happy Gilmore became one of Sandler’s best-known works. Now, after years of waiting, they’ve dusted off the clubs for another round.

What Is the Plot of Happy Gilmore 2?

The plot of Happy Gilmore 2—still locked tight behind closed doors—keeps its cards close to the chest, but we know enough to draw some conclusions. Virginia Venit, played by Bowen, isn’t just a memory; she’s back in the game. In the first go-round, she was the sharp-eyed PR director who saw through the noise, fell for Happy, and didn’t let go. Sandler could’ve gone alone, left behind those old loose threads. But Bowen’s return tells a different story, one that feels like it’s paying attention to the past, making sure nothing is left unresolved. This sequel isn’t taking the easy way out. It’s following the trail.

Happy Gilmore 2: Happy and Virginia Still Going Strong

Not long after the dust settled on the news of her return, Julie Bowen let slip a key detail in an interview: Happy and Virginia are still together in Happy Gilmore 2. She kept the rest under wraps, tight-lipped about where her character’s headed or what the plot’s really about. But Bowen did offer one line to chew on: “[Happy and Virginia] are very much together.” A small thing to say, but it cracks the door open. Maybe they tied the knot, maybe they even have kids now—raising a new crop of hockey-golf hybrids ready to take a swing at the world.

Back in ’96, when the credits rolled, Happy and Virginia were just getting started, their first night out ending with a trip to his grandmother’s house, high on the fumes of victory. That was 28 years ago. A lot can change in that much time, and this sequel’s going to have to fill in the blanks, show us how their relationship has weathered the years.

Them staying together also raises questions. Are they still in the golf world? Did they join forces professionally, or did they step away from the tour, letting the rest of life take the front seat? The answers are coming.

Bowen and Sandler hadn’t crossed paths on-screen since Happy Gilmore—until Netflix’s Hubie Halloween in 2020. That flick had them sparking up again as romantic leads, and it proved they hadn’t lost a step. Now, in Happy Gilmore 2, they’re back at it, still playing a couple. Bowen’s remark that they’re “very much” together tells us this sequel isn’t interested in cheap drama or tired will-they-won’t-they games. The chemistry’s still there, and the relationship’s solid. That’s the kind of story we’re walking into.

How Happy and Virginia’s Story Could Unfold in Happy Gilmore 2

It’s anyone’s guess if Happy Gilmore’s still swinging clubs in the Netflix sequel, but odds are he hasn’t left the world of hockey or golf far behind. He’ll be involved somehow. Virginia, last we saw her, was handling PR for the pro golf tour, and she’s likely still in that game, maybe even working for the PGA now. As for Happy, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him as a coach, teaching some up-and-coming hotshots how to transfer hockey’s raw grit into golf’s cool precision.

With Happy and Virginia still together, it wouldn’t be surprising if the sequel introduces their kid. Maybe it’s a son or daughter chasing down a career in golf, pulling the couple back into the competitive circuit. Or maybe, in some twist of fate, their kid’s the one who fulfilled Happy’s old hockey dreams, skating into the pros while Happy stands on the sidelines. Either way, the door’s wide open for this sequel to blend hockey and golf once again, mixing up Happy’s old life with whatever’s coming next.

Conclusion

Happy Gilmore 2 is set to walk that fine line between nostalgia and novelty. Adam Sandler’s back in the role that made him a household name, and he’s co-writing the script, promising the same brand of slapstick and sincerity that made the original stick. Julie Bowen’s return as Virginia adds a touch of depth, hinting that this sequel isn’t just replaying old hits but exploring how these characters have evolved. Details on the plot are scarce, but the whispers about Happy and Virginia’s ongoing romance and the potential for a new generation keep the excitement simmering. Sandler stepping into Happy’s shoes again signals a mix of the old and the new, making Happy Gilmore 2 a sequel that might just hit the sweet spot.

FAQs

Q1: What is the plot of Happy Gilmore 2?

Yes, there have been hints that NFL star Travis Kelce might make a cameo appearance, along with other professional golfers.

Yes, the sequel may introduce new characters, such as Happy and Virginia’s child. Whether this character follows a career in hockey, golf, or both, remains to be seen.

Immortal warriors, epic fights, and a dash of existential crisis – that’s the recipe that made “The Old Guard” a hit on Netflix back in 2020. Now, as fans eagerly await the sequel, we’ve gathered all the intel on “The Old Guard 2” that doesn’t require centuries of patience to uncover.

What’s the Release Date for The Old Guard 2?

Release Date for The Old Guard 2
Release Date for The Old Guard 2

For immortals, time is but a concept. Unfortunately, for us mere mortals awaiting “The Old Guard 2,” it’s becoming an exercise in patience. As of August 2024, Netflix hasn’t pinned down an official release date. The film was conspicuously absent from Netflix’s 2024 slate announcement in February, leaving fans more anxious than Andy without her labrys.

Charlize Theron, our fearless leader both on and off-screen, recently shed some light on the delay while talking to Variety. Apparently, Netflix has been going through more changes than a shapeshifting immortal, which put the brakes on post-production. But fear not! Theron assures us that things are back on track, and she’s “really excited about it.” Let’s hope that excitement translates to a release date sometime before the heat death of the universe.

The Cast: Old Faces and New Blood

The Old Guard 2 cast
The Old Guard 2 cast

What’s an immortal squad without its core members? Fear not, for our favorite band of unkillable warriors is set to return:

Charlize Theron as Andy

KiKi Layne as Nile

Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker

Marwan Kenzari as Joe (one half of our favorite immortal power couple)

Luca Marinelli as Nicky (the other half, obviously)

But wait, there’s more! Chiwetel Ejiofor is back as Copley, now serving as the team’s personal Illuminati-style fixer. And let’s not forget Veronica Ngo as Quynh, who’s traded her underwater prison for what we can only assume will be a vengeful tour de force.

In a twist that’s got us more excited than Booker at an open bar, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding are joining the cast. Their roles are still under wraps, but with Thurman’s action pedigree and Golding’s charm, we’re betting they’ll fit right in with our century-hopping heroes.

Plot: Ancient History in the Making

While the exact plot details are being guarded more closely than the secret to immortality, we can make some educated guesses based on the first film’s ending and the comic book source material.

Remember that post-credits scene that had us all gasping? Quynh’s dramatic return is sure to be a central plot point. In the comics, she comes back with a vengeance, convinced that their immortality is a curse meant to make humanity suffer. Talk about a millennia-long bad mood!

We’re also likely to see Andy grappling with her newfound mortality. Will she embrace her human side, or will she go out in a blaze of glory? And let’s not forget Booker, who’s probably spent his exile time perfecting his brooding skills and liver-pickling techniques.

As for our new additions, Thurman and Golding, will they be friend or foe? Perhaps they’re ancient immortals with a bone to pick, or maybe they’re the next generation of unkillable warriors. Either way, we’re here for it.

Behind the Scenes: New Guard for “The Old Guard”

While Gina Prince-Bythewood passed the directorial torch to Victoria Mahoney, she’s still on board as a producer. Mahoney brings her own action chops to the table, promising a fresh take on our favorite immortals’ escapades.

According to Wikipedia, Greg Rucka, the mastermind behind the original comics, is back on scripting duties. This bodes well for fans of the source material, as Rucka has always envisioned the story as a trilogy. That’s right, folks – we might be in for a third helping of immortal shenanigans!

Production: A Timeline Worthy of Immortals

The old guard 2 Production

Filming wrapped back in September 2022, which in “Old Guard” terms is probably just a blink of an eye. But for us mortal fans, the wait has been agonizing. The movie has been in post-production longer than some civilizations have existed (okay, slight exaggeration, but you get the point).

This extended post-production period has some fans worried. After all, Netflix did recently scrap Halle Berry’s “The Mothership” due to similar delays. But let’s not lose hope! The first “Old Guard” was a certified hit, and Netflix would have to be as short-sighted as a medieval peasant to give up on this franchise.

What to Expect: Immortal Action with a Side of Existential Crisis

If the first movie and the comics are anything to go by, we’re in for a treat. Expect bone-crunching action sequences that would make mere mortals wince, sprinkled with enough historical references to make your high school history teacher proud.

But it’s not all swords and gunfights. “The Old Guard” has always excelled at exploring the human side of immortality. How does Andy cope with suddenly being able to read the fine print on mortality? Will Nile continue to bridge the gap between the team’s ancient ways and the modern world? And for the love of all that’s holy, will Booker finally get his act together?

The Waiting Game: How to Survive Until Release Day

As we count down the days (or months, or years – who’s keeping track anymore?), here are some suggestions to keep your immortal cravings at bay:

Rewatch the first movie. See how many historical Easter eggs you can spot.

Pick up the comics. Rucka’s “Force Multiplied” might give you some juicy hints about the sequel’s plot.

Conclusion

While “The Old Guard 2” might be taking its sweet immortal time to reach our screens, all signs point to it being worth the wait. With a stellar returning cast, intriguing new additions, and a story steeped in centuries of history, it’s shaping up to be an epic continuation of our favorite immortals’ journey.

So keep your swords sharpened and your healing factors primed. “The Old Guard 2” is coming, and in the grand scheme of eternity, it’ll be here before you know it. Just maybe don’t hold your breath – unless you’re Quynh, of course.

Worried about the next epic from Middle-earth? Dive into the excitement with The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim animated movie’s first trailer!!! As breathtaking plains of Rohan serve the scenery, this trailer delves into the story of King Helm Hammerhand & the Rohirrim. Fans are excited to get the movie in December, 2024. But the trailer gives the viewers a glimpse of what they are going to expect from an animated marvel. That brings life to Tolkien’s universe. Head over to watch the trailer & find out what’s waiting for us all. Don’t forget to save the dates for this much-awaited animated movie!

Middle-earth Rides Again! The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Animated Movie Reveals First Epic Trailer

The first trailer for “The Lord of the Rings: The prelude of “The War of the Rohirrim of course is set against the panoramic scenes of the plains of Rohan. The four riders go galloping in the Liberty, the horses’ & men’s forms distinct against the open air. As for another character familiar to the fans of the previous parts, Miranda Otto as Éowyn offers a voiceover. That tells about an older tale as if it’s about to tell a new one, a tale of the great battle.

We are first introduced to King Helm Hammerhand, played by the Scotsman Brian Cox. The deeply lined face & the penetrating look portray a king who feels the tremendous pressure of his duties. During a council meeting, Helm faces Wulf, a Dunlending lord hell-bent on revenge. Wulf’s physical appearance & his gestures of aggression convey the notion of a storm brewing implying the background of danger.

The trailer then moves into overdrive with the following series of action packed scenes. Now we watch the Rohirrim’s famous cavalry attack in full motion. The animation of the film is done by utilizing hand-drawn techniques as well as computer-generated images. Look at the dynamism of the horses & riders with a great sense of movement. Characters use bows & shoot arrows, people fight with swords, & everything is filled with tension & adrenaline on the battlefield.

In the heat of battle we only get brief glimpses of the major characters. That non-Helm’s daughter is depicted as a warrior; her name, Hera illustrates her boldness & readiness to engage in battle. A young woman, best known as a shieldmaiden, with a blend of emotions of both cowardice & determination to protect her home. It also gives a glimpse of some of the famous sets such as the aggressive fortress of Helm’s Deep. Suggesting that location is as much a character as the people in the film.

During the end credits of the trailer, King Helm is portrayed wearing armor & standing on towers. That is defending his people against hordes of enemy troops. Typical for the genre, the voiceover mentions a fight for existence & a king who turns into a myth. The very last shot is on Helm’s pessimistic face with eyes conveying the warrior aspect & the determination. This made audiences need more of them.

Alien: Romulus portrays the young space colonists, during a space scavenger hunt, coming face-to-face with their worst fear, the Xenomorph

They are alone & totally unarmed, & they will be forced into fighting to stay alive as the creature stalks them through the narrow, eerie passageway of the space station. The film raises suspense because it is set in a closed space where every single shadow could signify a threat to human lives.
